The Taiwan Ship was built together by Taiwanese marine history experts, shipbuilding historians and shipbuilding masters during 2008 and 2010, based on the 1706 "Taiwan Ship blueprint" in the 1706 "Taiwan Ship blueprint", which is preserved by the Matsuura Historical Museum, Japan.

The Taiwanese ship is 30 meters long, 7.6 meters wide, 28 meters high and weighs about 150 tons. The "keel" is taken from a beech log that is 800 years old, 2.8 meters in diameter, and more than ten meters in length. The main structure of the hull is made of different woods such as Nanyang Beech, Taiwanese Acacia, Liuan, and Teak, which are constructed into different hull parts according to the properties of each material and traditional construction methods.

The "1661 Taiwan Warship Museum" covers an area of about 1,800 square meters. The museum combines public art and hull display and operates as an "outdoor museum" to promote marine culture, which inherits Tainan's culture and history and preserve the ship restoration crafts that are about to be lost.
